Oldham, Aaron (18 SEP 1837 – 25 JUL 1902)

Aaron Oldham died at his home in Pine Valley, Clark County about eleven o’clock p.m. July 25, 1902, after a lingering illness. He had been an intense sufferer for months and life was worn down to a thread. Deceased was born in Glossop, Eng. In 1837 and at the time of his death was sixty four years, ten months and seven days old. He immigrated to Canada in 1861 and later moved to Lowell, Mass., where he lived two years. With his family he then came to Wisconsin, living at Racine one year, when they came to Clark County, taking up a homestead in the town of Levis. There he made it his home until three years ago. Becoming too feeble to continue farming alone, he sold out and built a small home near to his son Joseph’s in Pine Valley. His wife, whose maiden name was Sarah N. Hardman survives him. They had a family of ten children, six of whom are living, namely William, Joseph, Charles and Alfred and two daughters, Mrs. Albert Raether and Mrs. Ed Raether. Mr. Oldham was one of the substantial and respected men of his community. He took an active interest in local affairs and was for many years a member of the school board in his district. Though for some time, age and disease have kept him from life’s active duties, he will be sadly missed by all who knew him. The funeral was held at the house Sunday afternoon, Rev. A.V. Ingham officiating. Burial took place in Levis Cemetery.
