Obit: Roder, August Eugene (1904 - 1921)
Surnames: RODER AYERS NITSCHKE KRAUSE VINE Roder, August Eugene (26 AUG 1904 - 10 MAY 1921) August Eugene Roder died at the home of his parents in the town of Pine Valley Tuesday morning, aged 16 years, 8 months and 13 days. August was the second son of August and Alvira Roder, and was born in the town of Grant Aug. 26th, 1904. The family moved to their present home in Pine Valley eleven years ago this spring and this boy always attended the Neillsville schools. He was a sophomore. He has suffered much from inflammatory rheumatism since he was ten years old. The best medical aid was sought and for a while it was thought that a cure had been effected. Later developments, however, proved that Brights disease had set in, and since early last fall this disease has baffled every effort to check its course. He was obliged to give up school in October and it soon became apparent that his health was failing. He was confined to his bed the past nine weeks. Funeral services will be held from the home at 1 o'clock this Friday afternoon with a public service following at the Congregational Church, rev. G. W. Longenecker officiating. The pallbearers are to be his cousins, Paul and Arnold Nitschke, Walter Roder, Reinhold and Ewald Krause and Harry Ayers. Burial will be made in the city cemetery. Deceased was a very fine young man, loved and respected by all who knew him. He is survived by his parents, by three sisters, Margaret, Mrs. Ernest Vine of town of Grant Alice and Ruth at home, and by two brothers, Carl Martin and John, both at home. The sympathy of the entire community goes out to these bereaved ones. SOURCE: Unattributed newspaper clipping in Roder family files |
