Obit: Hiles, Vivian I. ( 1905 – 1937) Surnames: HILES HART WALSH Source: GREENWOOD GLEANER (Greenwood, Wis.) 04/29/1937 Hiles, Vivian I. (21 AUG 1905 – 22 APR 1937) Vivian Irene Hart, daughter of Fred and Mabel Hart, was born at Merrillan, Aug. 21, 1905. She was called to her rest April 22, 1937, while a patient at the Wausau sanitarium. Death came after weeks of sickness, of complications following a severe case of pneumonia. Granton, Clark County was the family home in those days, she attended the school there and later graduated from the Central State Teachers’ College at Stevens Point. She taught school for a number of years, and part of this time was in Granton. In all her teaching she was ordinarily successful and endeared herself to her pupils and the community. On May 30, 1931, she was united in marriage to Gale Hiles of Greenwood, at Wabasha, Minn. One son, Bruce, now five years of age, came to bless this home. After marriage, they lived at Greenwood several years, leaving there in Aug. 1936 to make their home in Neillsville, where Mr. Hiles is manager of the Employment office. Through leaving this life thus early, she has nevertheless, made a real contribution to life. Hers was a cheerful disposition and a winsome personality. She quickly made friends wherever she went. She brought a bit of sunshine and a higher faith in humanity, to every life she touched. She was of a deeply religious nature, and had committed her way unto God. Prayer was a real source of help and comfort to her. The work of the Sunday school was a joy to her, and for several years she was an enthusiastic teacher in the Granton Union Sunday school. She also took delight in the work of the order of the Eastern Star, of which she was a member. Mrs. Hiles’ death marks the first in her family. Those loved ones left to sorrow are: her husband Gale, and her son, Bruce, her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hart of Mondovi, four brothers, Glen of Florence, Kenneth, Ross and Wayne of Mondovi and one sister, LeNore (Mrs. Gregory Walsh) of Hayward. There are also other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the Union Church at Granton, with the Rev. E.P. Stone officiating, and burial in the Windfall Cemetery. Pallbearers were Sam Schroeder, Victor Trimberger, Milo Mabie, Ralph Winn, Roderick Rausch and Vernon Peterson. |
