Red Vincent, 78, Glendive, Mont., died on Friday, Aug. 9, 2002, at the Glendive Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Thursday, Aug. 15, at the Glendive Alliance Church. The Rev. Joel Arndt will officiate. Burial will be in the Dawson Memorial Cemetery, Glendive. Verlyn Lee Vincent was born on April 10, 1924, in Loyal, to Percy and Julia (nee Slocum) Vincent. He attended Loyal area schools. As a young man, he worked in the wheat fields of North Dakota. He married Charlotte Stuart on March 13, 1943, in Wibaux, Mont. They moved to Glendive in 1944. He worked for Northern Pacific Railroad, the Glendive Coke Plant, and Glendive construction firms. He worked for the Montana Dakota Utilities from 1962 until his retirement in 1986. After his retirement, he did small engine repair. His interests included fishing, vacationing and playing games. Survivors include two daughters, Marilyn Crawford, Glendive, Mont., and Jacklyn (Henry) Schuh, Casper, Wyo.; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Linda Cook, Spencer. Preceding him in death were his wife, Charlotte, in 1991; his parents; a daughter, Darlene Hagel, in 1968; a son, Dale Vincent, in 1992; a great-grandson, Bryant Schuh; and a brother, Murel Vincent, in May 2002. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home, Glendive, is assisting the family with arrangements. |
