Englebretson, James (15 APR 1897 – 29 MAR 1979)

James Englebretson, 81, of Route 1, Owen, Clark County, died about 8 p.m., Thursday, March 29, 1979 at Memorial Hospital in Neillsville.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, April 2 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Longwood. Rev. Sam Kochel officiated and burial followed in the church cemetery.

Maurina Funeral Home in Owen was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Englebretson was born April 15, 1897 in Loyal. His first marriage was to Iva Eggett, and they were later divorced. His second marriage was to Ila Hendrickson in 1940. She died Aug. 3, 1978. He had farmed in the Loyal-Greenwood area, moving to Route 1, Owen in 1962. He also was employed at Clark County Health Care Center at Owen.

He was a veteran of World War I and a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church.

Surviving him are four sons, William of Owen, Robert of Eau Claire, Jimmie of Woodville and Clayton of Loyal; two daughters, Mrs. Ann Chency of Los Angeles, Cal, and Mrs. Larry (Fay) Lang of Spencer; four step-sons, Orville Hendrickson of Sturgeon Bay, Rodney Hendrickson of Raleigh, N.C., Archie Hendrickson of Willard and Henry Hendrickson of Neillsville; two step-daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Opal) Marciniak of Kimberly and Mrs. James (Arlene) Egan of Kaukauna; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Bragstad of Milwaukee; 27 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, one brother and two sisters.

Serving as pallbearers were Paul Englebretson, Bruce Englebretson, Gary Englebretson, Richard Englebretson, Russell Dresdow and Blaine Hendrickson.
