Surnames: NEIS BARBER SCHWELLENBACH HUBER LAUER HAAS LAMBERTI ZIMMERMAN FRANK Source: CLARK COUNTY REPUBLICAN & PRESS (Neillsville, Wis.) 02/05/1914 Neis, Hubert (28 NOV 1858 – 28 JAN 1914) Mr. Hubert Neis died at his home in the town of Weston, Clark County Jan. 28, 1914. His death came as a shock to his family and friends, as he left his home in seemingly good health Tuesday morning to cut wood with Mr. Barber. While at work he was suddenly stricken with apoplexy and Mr. Barber brought him home. The doctor was called but all efforts to save his life were of no avail. After having received all the consolations that the Holy Catholic religion can give he breathed forth his soul to God. Mr. Neis was born in Jefferson, Wis., Nov. 28, 1858. He was married to Miss Anna Schwellenbach Nov. 7, 1882. They resided at Jefferson until Nov. 19, 1901, then they came to Neillsville to live at their present home. Deceased was a good Catholic, a kind husband and a loving father, who had a host of friends as was fully exemplified in the last sad days of his life and his death. He leaves his sorrowing wife and six children, who all were present at the funeral except Mrs. Albert Huber of Montana. They are Melanie of Dubuque, Iowa; Albert of Lodi; Mrs. Frank of Chippewa Falls; Mrs. Albert Huber of Poplar, Mont. and Marcella and Cletus at home. He also leaves three sisters, Mrs. Peter Lauer of Milwaukee; Mrs. Fred Haas and Mrs. Carl Lamberti of Prairie du Sac, all of who were present at the funeral, which took place from St. Mary’s Church Saturday Jan. 31. Rev. Father Dorrenbach conducted the services and also officiated at the grave. Other out of town relatives were Leonard and Adam Neis, Mr. and Mrs. John Zimmerman, Lena Neis, all of Jefferson, Mr. and Mrs. John Haas, Carl and Alfred Haas, Mr. Peter Schuld of Loyal, Joseph and Leo Haas of Prairie du Sac. |
