Sobczak, Martha (26 JUN 1885 - 5 JUN 1921)

Our community was shocked last Sunday morning upon learning that Mrs. Sobczak had passed away after a few hours illness. She had been feeling well the evening before and Mr. Sobczak with other had driven to Neillsville, returning about 9:00 o'clock. All medical attention possible was given, but the end came peacefully about five o'clock, hemorrhages being the cause of her death. The sorrowing ones have the sympathies of all in the loss of a kind and loving wife, mother, daughter, and sister.

Martha Melka was born in the town of Cleveland, June 26, 1885, where she grew to womanhood, and on Nov. 26, 1906, was united in the holy bonds of matrimony with Mr. Ignatz Sobczak, the ceremony being celebrated at the Fairview Church. They made their home first at the Springbrook Cheese Factory, moving to Humbird, Clark County, Wis. in April 1914, where she lived until the time of her death, June 5, 1921, at the age of 35 years, 11 months and 9 days. There are left to mourn her untimely death her husband, two sons Leonard and Adrian, her mother, one sister, Mrs. John Gooder of Fairchild, and one brother, Frank Melka of Milwaukee, besides many relatives and friends.

The funeral was held Wednesday forenoon, the remains being taken to Fairchild, were services were held in the Polish Catholic Church, Father F. J. Bzostowicz of Cassel, officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Many friends from here and relatives and friends from Fairchild and vicinity attended the services.
