O'Brien, Martin (August 22, 1869 - March 17, 1954)

Martin (Patty) O'Brien, 84, died March 17th in Black River Falls, where he was taken a week previously. Funeral services were held March 20th in Hixton, with burial taking place in the Neillsville Cemetery. Mr. O'Brien was born August 22, 1869, to Martin and Mary Ann O'Brien in Quebec, Canada. He moved with his parents to Clark County in 1882 and settled on a farm in the Town of York. He was married to Lulu Cross in May, 1897. The moved to Rockford, Illinois in 1918 and returned latter to the Neillsville area, where he lived until 1929. Since that time he has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Clarence Nettleton, in Hixton. Survivors are three sons, Leon and Hollie of Hixton, and Clayton, Rockford; and a daughter, Mrs. Clarence (Minnie) Nettleton of Hixton. Four grandchildren, two great-granddaughters, and two brothers, William of Black River Falls, and Thomas of Minneapolis, also survive. Among those from out-of-town attending the service wer Mr. and Mrs. Glen Krejci, LaCrosse; Mr. and Mrs. Clare Marshall, and son, Mr. and Mrs. Robert O'Brien, and son, and Thomas O'Brien, Minneapolis; Mrs. Lyle Sischo, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Parrett, Wisconsin Rapids, John Krejci, Mr. and Mrs. Rex Krejci and family, Gladys Parrett, Mr. and Mrs. Harold O'Brien and sons, Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. Shirley O'Brien and two daughters of Rio; Mr. and Mrs. Herman Dittmer, Verona; Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Eide and Maynard Eide of Kenosha.
