Surnames: SCHOBER STIEGLER KOHLNHOFER Source: GREENWOOD TRIBUNE (Greenwood, Clark County, Wis.) 12/08/1921 Source: LOYAL TRIBUNE (Loyal, Clark County, Wis.) 12/08/1921 Schober, John (15 JUL 1865 - 23 NOV 1921) John Schober died at his home at 5:30 p.m., Nov. 23rd, 1921, after an illness of about 8 days of pneumonia. All that medical skill and loving kindness could do for him was done but to no avail. He was born at Edenstoudf, Berning, Germany, July 15th, 1865. His age was 56 years, 4 months and 8 days. He came to America and Millston in 1892, accompanied by Miss Katherine Stiegler. They were married at Black River Falls Mach 13th, soon after landing here. They made there home on a farm about 5 miles Northeast of that city and went back to Germany in 1894 and remained there one years, then returned here, where they have resided until they moved to Loyal, Clark County, Wis. in 1921. To them were born eight children, 4 sons and 4 daughters. The sons are: John, Joseph, Casper and Anton, the daughters are Mrs. Joseph Kohlnhofer of Greenwood, Wis., Marion, Kathryn and Elizabeth. Their oldest son John, served in the world war. About three weeks after his return home he was drowned near Greenwood. Mr. Schober served as a soldier in the army in Germany for three years before coming to America. His was a noble, Christian character, always ready to do any act of kindness for others. He had a jovial disposition and always had a cheerful greeting and pleasant word for everyone. He was everybody's friend and was loved by all who knew him. The funeral was held at St. Mary's Church at Greenwood, Saturday, Nov. 26th. Solemn high mass was served by Father Acthelic. The floral tributes were beautiful. He was laid to rest by the side of his son, John in the cemetery at Greenwood. He leaves a devoted wife, three sons and four daughters to mourn his departure, all of whom are at home except the married daughter. They have the sympathy of their many friends in this community. Joseph Schober and son Arthur of Tomah, Mr. Kosbler and son, Theo. Of Knapp and Mrs. T. E. McLaughlin and Merle of Millston, from away, attended the funeral. |
