Riedel, Charlotte (13 DEC 1852 - 11 SEP 1923)

Mrs. August G. Riedel died at her home in the town of Grant, Clark County, Wis. on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 1923, after a lingering illness. Her health had been poor for the past three years and all that loving care and the skill of the best physicians could do, were done for her, but her strength gradually failed until the end came.

Charlotte Crevecour was born in Milwaukee, Dec. 13, 1852. She came to Clark County, Wis. in 1877, and was united in marriage with August G. Riedel on March 17, 1877. To their union were born six children, all of whom are living at or near the parental home. Her husband also survives her. The children are Mrs. Otto Lautenbach, two of Grant, Edward Riedel, town of Lynn, Walter, Arthur, Theodore and Albert Riedel, all at home in the town of Grant. She leaves also 8 grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Anna Williams, one brother, Ernest Crevecour, and a large number of close relatives and a host of friends who sincerely mourn her death. She was a woman of most lovable qualities, and none knew her but to respect and hold her in the highest esteem. In her home she was a kind and loving wife and mother, and at all times a most helpful neighbor.

The funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 14, at Mapleworks Lutheran Church, Rev. Hasz officiating. The pallbearers were Edward, Walter, Theodore and Albert Riedel, her sons, and Victor Lautenbach and Harold Riedel, her grandsons. Flowers were carried by her grandchildren. The many beautiful floral tributes bespoke the esteem in which the deceased was held. Burial was made at the Windfall Cemetery.

Those from away who attended the funeral were Mrs. Joe Gresler and Mrs. Henry Torkey of Milwaukee, and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Leifer of Plymouth.
