Schoengarth, Seraphine (14 NOV 1858 - 28 DEC 1923)

Mrs. August Schoengarth, one of the older residents of this city (Neillsville, Clark County, Wis.), died at the Marshfield Hospital Friday morning, Dec 28, 1923, a few days following a surgical operation.

Mrs. Schoengarth, whose maiden name was Seraphine Simon, was born in Chicago, Nov. 14, 1858. After the great fire in that city in 1871 they came to Neillsville, where she grew to womanhood. In 1876 she was married to August A. Schoengarth and have made Neillsville their home since. Mrs. Schoengarth was a woman possessed of the highest domestic virtues, always thoughtful and diligent in looking after the needs of her home and family, but found time also to be of service to the neighbors and to the wider calls of the community. For many years she was a member of the Congregational Church, wherein she was a faithful attendant and a tireless worker for its progress and up-building. She will be greatly missed by her family, the church and the community.

She leaves to mourn her death her aged husband, one son, Judge Oscar W. Schoengarth, and a little grandson. A son, Edward H. died in 1917. She is the last of her own family, two brothers and two sisters preceding her in death.

The funeral was held at the Congregational Church Monday afternoon, Rev. G. W. Longenecker officiating.
