Dodte, Carl F. (28 FEB 1854 - 5 MAY 1924)

Carl F. Dodte, a prominent farmer of Pine Valley, Clark County, Wis., died Monday noon, May 5, 1924, at his home east of the city. He had been in declining health for some time and had received all the help could be given by medical attention and kindly care in the home.

Carl Frederick Dodte was born in the Province of Saxony, Germany, Feb. 28, 1854; he was therefore 70 years, 2 months and 5 days old at the time of his death. He came to this country at the age of 28 years, and settle in New Iberia, Louisiana. He was there married to Wilhelmina Pohle, also from Germany, a year after his arrival in America. They lived in Louisiana a year, but on account of the climate, they came north to Neillsville and have made this their home ever since. He was an industrious and enterprising farmer and developed a fine farm and home. He was quiet and thoughtful in manner, but had definite opinions on both business and public matters and was considered on of our very best citizens. He leaves to his family and to this community the legacy of a worthy, well spent life.

He is survived by his wife and six children: a daughter, Elsie, Mrs. Walter Beilfuss, lives at Withee; Olga, Mrs. O. W. Schoengarth, in Neillsville; Carl G. at Spokane, Wash.; Miss Clarice Dodte at home; Miss Blanche in Seattle, and Bernard at home. He leaves also four grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at the Presbyterian Church, Rev. Donnell officiating. The Modern Woodmen, of which order deceased was a member, will attend.
