Romaine, Celia ( 1843? - 26 APR 1924)

Mrs. Ed Romaine, one of the early settlers of the town of Beaver, Clark County, Wis., died April 26, 1924, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Robert Eunson in California. She was 80 years of age. Mrs. Romaine, whose maiden name was Celia Roscoe, was born in Milwaukee Co., and according to an article appearing in the Milwaukee Journal a few days ago, was the first white child born in that county. She was a woman of most lovable Christian character, and did well her part in the pioneer life of the community. Mr. Romaine died several years ago and she had made her home with her children. Her daughter, Mrs. John Graves of Spencer, was in California when she died, and returned with the remains. Funeral services were held at Spencer Sunday, and the body brought to Neillsville for interment beside her husband and son. The W. R. C. took part in the ceremonies at the cemetery.

Mrs. Romaine leaves four daughters, Mrs. Ransom living in the state of Washington; Mrs. Charles Brown of Loyal; Mrs. John Graves of Spencer and Mrs. Robert Eunson in California. She leaves also three sisters, Mrs. Wm. Irvine of Owen, Mrs. Rosa Frasier of Loyal, and Mrs. Chester Stowe in California.
