Armitage, Willis J. (11 Oct. 1881 - 9 May 1925)

Willis J. Armitage, one of the best known citizens of the town of Weston, died at his home, in that town Saturday morning, May 9, after an illness of only 48 hours. The cause of his death was cerebro spinal meningitis. His illness came with extreme suddenness and intenseness, and although medical aid was called at once, the progress of the disease could not be stopped.

Willis J. Armitage, son of Mr and Mrs. W. K. Armitage, was born in Dodge County, October 11, 1881, and was brought to Clark County when he was a year old by his parents. They purchased a farm in the town of Weston a portion of which was taken over by deceased at the time of his marriage and remained his home the rest of his life. He was married in 1901 to Della Beelar who survives him. He leaves one son, Lisle, a young man of 23, at home; also one brother, Bruce, on the old home farm with the aged mother. Deceased leaves also a nephew and a niece.

Willis Armitage had the respect and confidence of all who knew him, especially in the town of where he grew to manhood and live practically all his life. For fifteen years he served the town as Town Treasurer. He had been somewhat crippled and did all that he could to help with the work on the farm. He will be greatly missed in the home and the community.

The funeral was held at the home Tuesday afternoon, Rev. G. W. Longenecker officiating.
