Bio: Vandeberg, C. A. (1925)
Source: Neillsville Press (Neillsville, Clark County, Wis.) Thursday, 11/05/1925 Vandeberg, C. A. (1925) FORD CRANK SPEARS DOG Saturday night C. A. Vandeberg of the town of York drove into the city from the west with a dog impaled on the crank of his Ford coupe. Policeman Rossman’ attention was drawn to the queer sight and on questioning Mr. Vandeberg discovered that he did not know that he has struck a dog. The crank handle had struck the dog near the shoulder and passed through the body. The animal was still alive when discovered, but was quickly killed by Policeman Rossman to put it out of pain. It was a good sized dog and resembled a Collie. It is certainly remarkable that the car crank handle could thus have pierced the dog’s body and yet the driver of the car failed to feel the shock, or see or hear the dog. |
