Obit: Ganther, Letha L. (1917 - 2004)
Wednesday, may 5, 2004 edition of the Clark County Press Letha L. Ganther Letha Lenore Ganther, age 87, of Neillsville, died Friday, April 30, at the Memorial Nursing Home in Neillsville. Letha Lenore Pietenpol Ganther was born to Laura and Floyd Pietenpol on March 15, 1917. She graduated from the Granton Public Schools and attended beautician school in Eau Claire. She met her future husband, Clarence Ganther, while she was employed as a beautician in New Lisbon. They were married on Sept. 14th, 1940, at the Congregational Church in Neillsville. They lived in New Lisbon and operated a Sinclair filling station. With the breakout of WW II, they returned to the farm where Letha grew up in Granton. Besides being a homemaker, Letha was a mother of children, Lee, Bill, and Margo. She belonged to the Granton United Methodist Church, Royal Neighbors of America, and Romadka Homemakers Club. Letha had many hobbies, which included oil painting, upholstery, making pressed flower greeting cards, woodcarving, singing, and playing piano. She also made-up a "jingle" that won a trip to the Seattle World's Fair. She is survived by her three children, Lee (Cheryl) Ganther, of Granton; William (Linda) Ganther, of Chili; and Margo (Scott) Buriegh, of Isanti, Minn.; four grandchildren, Leslie (Jeromy) Carmine, of Las Vegas, Nevada; Shawn (Jessica) Ganther, of Granton, Kimberly Ganther, of Chili and Logan Ganther, of Granton; one great-grandchild, Kylie Ganther, of Granton; one sister, Elaine Walters-Downer, of Neillsville and a sister-in- law, Alma Homberg, of Necedah. Letha was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence and her parents. Funeral Services for Letha were held Tuesday, May 4, 2004 at the United Methodist Church in Granton. Pastor Mary Anne Conklin officiated. Music was provided by Charlotte Drescher, organist and Pastor Mary Anne Conklin, soloist. Interment was in the Windfall Cemetery. Casket bearers were: Bruce Crothers, Mark Crothers, Gerald Ganther and Roger Tyler. The Gesche Funeral Home assisted Letha's family with Funeral arrangements. |
