Obit: Ley, George (1892 - 1927)
Surnames: LEY KOPF Source: NEILLSVILLE PRESS (Neillsville, Clark County, Wis.) 09/22/1927 Ley, George (11 JUN 1892 - 8 SEP 1927) George Ley was born to Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Ley, June 11, 1892, in the town of Fremont, Clark County, Wis. and died at Aberdeen, S.D., Sept. 8, 1927. His death was due to cancer and a complication of diseases. George Ley grew to manhood here. He was married to Julia Kopf of Marshfield. Besides his wife he leaves to mourn his loss a son, Melvin, eleven years old, and a daughter, Clara, seven years old, his mother, two brothers, Charley and August, and many other relatives. Some five or six weeks previous to his death he had gone from his home in Marshfield to work in the harvest fields of Dakota, but was soon taken ill, from which he never rallied. His wife was called, but he passed away before she reached his bedside. The remains arrived on Sunday, and the funeral was held from the Charley Ley home on Monday with Rev. Mallory officiating. It was a beautiful day and the service was held on the lawn in front of the house. The singers were Mr. and Mrs. Ben Hallock, Mrs. Charley Fenske and Mr. Paul Beil. The pallbearers were Tony Hornick, John Prust, Ed Keys, Arthur Schuster, John Noble and Harry Cole. The flowers were many and beautiful. The remains were laid to rest in Yolo Cemetery. Those from away who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. August Wiedenhoeft and daughter of Park Falls, Mr. and Mrs. andrew Peterson and family and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Oldenberg of Spencer, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Kopf and family of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Schmidtke of Menasha, two sisters of Mrs. Ley from Chicago, Mrs. Kopf and son John, and several other families from Marshfield. |
