Skiff, Rozelle F. (10 FEB 1860 - 14 OCT 1927)

A copy of the Hardin Co., Iowa, Citizen of Oct. 20, and also a letter from Mrs. R. F. Skiff to the Press announce the death of Mr. Skiff at Elkhorn, Wis., on Oct. 14, 1927. The death of Mr. Skiff was not wholly unexpected here, as it was known for some time that his strength had been failing, but those who knew and loved him here, will grieve to know that he is gone.

Rozelle Fayette Skiff was born at Lyons, Wis., Feb. 10, 1860. In 1864 the family moved to Iowa and there deceased grew to manhood and was educated. He graduated from Iowa Fall High School, and in 1885 he received his masters degree from Iowa State University. He taught a number of terms in country schools and later for fourteen years was principal of high schools in Iowa and Wisconsin, for some time being supervising principal in the city of Elkhorn. When he discontinued teaching he bought a farm in Clark County, Wis., near Christie, and came here to live in 1916. After several years' residence here he sold his farm and moved back to Elkhorn, where he lived the remainder of his life.

In Nov. 1922 he met with an accident which resulted in a broken hip, from which he never fully recovered.

Mr. Skiff was married to Miss Josephine Carlson at Livermore, Iowa, Sept. 11, 1889. Besides his wife he leaves one brothers, David L. Skiff of Boulder, Colo.

Mr. Skiff came of a Quaker or Friend family and by inheritance and training was a man of gentle and refined culture. He had a wide range of scholarship and those rare touches of idealism which gave his personality a peculiar and abiding charm. It was a fine experience to have known such a man as Mr. Skiff. The old friends here of Mr. and Mrs. Skiff will extend to her their sincere sympathy.

Funeral services and burial took place at Iowa Falls, Iowa.
