Geisler, John W. (1874 - 15 Feb. 1926)

John W. Geisler died at the Frances Willard Hospital in Chicago on February 15, 1926, a brief mention of his death appearing at the time in the Press. His death was caused by injuries received last summer at his work. Mr. Geisler was born in Germany in 1874, and when a small boy came to this country with his mother, making his home with an uncle in Chicago. There he learned the bricklayer’s trade. He came as a young man with his uncle to Neillsville, the first work he engaged in being on the C. C. Sniteman Drug Store, when it was being remodeled in 1895. In 1896 he was married to Margrette Gangler of Neillsville. Although Mr. Geisler has worked at his trade from time to time, he and his family here lived a good many years on their farm in Pine Valley. He was an excellent workman, reliable in every way and was well liked by all who knew him. He was a good husband, father and citizen.

To Mr and Mrs. Geisler there were born 7 children: Frank in Chicago; George on the farm; Margrette, Mrs. George Turner, of Chicago; Kathrine, Mrs. Wm. Buddinger of Chicago; Miss Louise at home; William and Julius at home on the farm.

On account of the illness of Mrs. Geisler and the bad weather, the body of Mr. Geisler was placed in a vault in Chicago, for immediate burial could not be made. Mrs. Geisler and son Julius left for Chicago Tuesday to make arrangements for the burial.
