Agin, Henry S. (30 APR 1847 - 12 MAY 1929)

Henry Stewart Agin, prominent Clark County, Wis. citizen, died at his home in the village of Granton at 10 o'clock on Sunday morning, May 12, 1929, at the age of 82 years and 12 days. Mr. Agin was stricken with paralysis on Saturday, May 4, from which he suffered for eight days, until his death. The funeral services will be held at the Union Church in Granton on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with Rev. S. J. Lambright of Neillsville officiating. Interment will take place in the Granton Cemetery.

Henry Agin was born on April 30, 1847, in the city of Utica, N.Y. Being left an orphan at the age of three, he was taken to a children's home, where he remained until he was eleven years of age, when he came to Wisconsin and made his home in Sheboygan County with an uncle. At the age of 21, Henry started out for himself and for six years worked for farmers in the community. In 1874, at the age of 27 years, he was married to Miss Lizzie Wells, and the newlyweds settled on a 20 acre farm, which the groom had just purchased in Sheboygan County. In 1902, Mr. Agin purchased a larger farm there, on which he and his wife lived until coming to Clark County in 1908. They located on a farm in the town of York, where the family resided until twelve years ago, when they moved to the village of Granton, where they made their home since.

Mr. Agin joined the Baptist Church when he was 22 years of age and has been a devoted Christian ever since. He was widely known and had a large circle of intimate friends. Although he lived to be 82 years of age, Mr. Agin enjoyed good health up until a few days before his death.

Deceased leaves a wife, one daughter, Mrs. Fred Tyler of Granton, and five grandchildren.
