Obit: Jacques, Stanley J. (1924 - 2004)
Wednesday, March 3, 2004 edition of the Tribune - Record - Gleaner Stanley J. Jacques Stanley J. Jacques, age 79, of Neillsville, former resident of Wauwatosa, died Thursday, Feb. 26, at the Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire. Stanley James Jacques was born on Nov. 8, 1924, in Milwaukee, the son of James and Clara (Edwards) Jacques. He attended school in Elm Grove, and then graduated in 1944 from Marquette University with a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering. Stanley then enlisted in the United States Navy and served as a 1st Lieutenant in the Pacific during WW II. Upon returning from the service, Stanley began working for the city of Milwaukee as a civil engineer. In November of 1947, he was united in marriage to Patricia King in Milwaukee. In 1954, while working for the city of Milwaukee, Stanley earned his Masters Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He worked for a short time as the city engineer in Cedarburg, and then returned to work for the city of Milwaukee, and worked for many years as assistant airport engineer at General Mitchell Field Airport in Milwaukee. Stanley retired in 1980 and they moved to Neillsville, where his father James T. Jacques had been a native. Stanley was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Neillsville. He also belonged to many professional associations, including the American Association of Civil Engineers, and the Alumni Association of the University of Wisconsin - Madison. He is survived by his wife, Pat; one son, James (Cheri) Jacques of Minnetonka, Minn.; three daughters, Jackie (Mark) Bye of Milwaukee, Judy (Cris) Krein of Eagle River, and Joanne (John) Hirt of Iron River; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, John; his parents, and one brother, Robert. A memorial service for Stanley will be held at a later date. Interment will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Neillsville. The Gesche Funeral Home is assisting Stanley's family with arrangements.
