Loyal TRG 21 July 2004 PHOTO Barbara Hubing, 53, Granton, died Sunday, July 18, 2004, after a brief but courageous battle with ovarian cancer, in the Palliative Care Unit of St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, July 21, at the Gesche Funeral Home and from 10-11 a.m., Thursday, July 22, at United Church of Christ, Neillsville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 22, at the United Church of Christ, Neillsville. Barbara L. Stiklestad was born on Nov. 9, 1950, in Stoughton, to Henry and Helen [nee Whaley] Stiklestad. She was the middle child of five. She graduated from Stoughton High School and then attended Luther College in Iowa before transferring to and graduating from the University of Wisconsin- Whitewater with a bachelor of science degree in elementary education. She married Steve Hubing on June 23, 1973, at the First Lutheran Church, Stoughton. She was an elementary school teacher for more than 30 years. She was an active member of the United Church of Christ, Neillsville, where she was a Sunday school teacher and mentor for confirmation students, Her interests included reading, crossword puzzles, the game of Scrabble and shopping with family and friends. She will long be remembered for the kindness that she displayed to everyone she met. Survivors include her husband, Steve; two daughters, Becca [Andy] Jarzynski, Eau Claire, and Kate [Jeff] Peterson, Egg Harbor; her parents, Henry and Helen Stiklestad, Stoughton; two sisters, Jeanne Lane, Madison, and Sue [Don] Denner, Stouchton; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her grandparents. Memorials in her name may be directed to the Marshfield Medical Research Foundation by sending them to Marshfield Clinic Office of Resource Development at 1000 N. Oak Ave., Marshfield, WI, 54449-5790. The Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, is assisting the family with arrangements. |
