Neillsville--No inquest will be held in the death of Edward Caan, 51, Fremont, whose body was found hanging in the barn on the Ferd Schilling farm, where Caan was a tenant, it was announced today by Coroner P C Ludovic, who investigated the death.

According to the coroner, Caan, who had been in ill health and had been receiving medical treatment for several months, had been despondant as a result of his illness and while in that state, took his own life. The man had been dead about two hours when the body was discovered Saturday noon.

Mr. Caan was born in Holland on Sept 18, 1885, and came to this country with his parents when a year old, the family taking up their residence at Cedar Grove, WI.

While in that vicinity, Mr. Caan was married to Josephine Erdmann in 1907, and about 20 years ago, came to Clark County, setting on a farm in the town of Fremont and with the exception of one year, was engaged in farming until his death.

He is survived by his widow, a daughter, Mrs Joseph Reichert, Thorp, by two sons, Howard, at home, and Roland, at a CCC camp, near winter. He is also survived by three sisters, Mrs John Heule and Mrs John Buhler, Sheboygan Falls, and Mrs Francis Spencer, Green Lake, and by four brothers, Frank, William and Peter, Sheboygan Falls, and Harold, Sheboygan. Mr. Caan had applied for his citizenship papers and was to appear at the courthouse, Neillsville, Tuesday forenoon for a naturalization hearing.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Seehafer-Hansen funeral home in Marshfield at 2 pm Tuesday.

(article 2) The Rev. C A Kipps officiated, and two musical selections were sung by Mrs J H Cundy and Mrs Harley Oligney, accompanied by Mrs Glenn D Tinkham. Burial took place in Hillside cemetery.

Pallbearers were Walter Hopp, Otto Speigelberg, Fred Heinze, Math Jansen, James Spuhler, and Ernest Below.
