(Kathryn) Lee 4/24/1883-4/8/1946) West Fremont--Funeral services were conducted this afternoon for Mrs. E.W. Lee, 62, who died at Chili Monday, April 8. She had been ill with diabetes for the past 15 years. The Rev. S. A. Gutknecht officiated at the 1:30 o'clock service at the home and at the 2 o'clock service at the Evangelical Church in Chili. Pallbearers were William Happe Jr., E.C. Haslow, Luther Lindow, Irving Davis, and Albert and Arthur Lindow. Beverly Tyler, and Mary Jennings carried flowers. Mrs. Lee, the former Kathryn Cecelia Wenzel, the fifth child in the family of nine of Valentine and Julia Wenzel, was born in the Town of Lima, near Sheboygan Falls, April 24, 1883. She was graduated from Five Corns Rural School and Waldo High School, Sheboygan County, with the class of 1901. After teaching school in Sheboygan County a year, and in Clark County seven years, she was married in 1909 to Ernest Wright Lee at the home of her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. William Atkin, near Withee. The Rev. Owen Rowe of the Congregational Church officiated. Since her marriage, she and her husband made their home in the Town of Fremont, Clark County. For six years they lived near Granton and since 1915 they resided in the Town of Fremont, near Chili. She served as school clerk of Cozy Corner School six years and was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Church and Sunday School, Chili. She also was a member of the Woman's Missionary Society, and was active with the Ladies Aid Society until poor health interfered. Surviving besides her husband are three sons, Wenzel, Marion, and Robert, all of the Town of Fremont, and five grandchildren, Roger, Eldon, Norbert, Connie and Jimmy Lee, children of Wenzel and Marion Lee. Her parents and six brothers and sisters preceded her in death. They include Frank Wenzel, Mrs. William (Nellie) Atkin, Mrs. Ed (Rosanna) Dicks, Mrs. Harry O. (Alice) Hansen, and an infant brother and sister. The Town of Fremont resident was a member of the Fremont Homemakers Club at the time of her death. |
