Earl C. Zschernitz, age 74, of 2120 Heights Dr., Eau Claire, Wis., died Sunday, March 22, 1998 at The Clairmont Nursing Home in Eau Claire.

Earl was born on May 5, 1923 in Neillsville, the son of Carl and Mathilda (Dobes) Zschernitz. He married in Neillsville in 1951 and later divorced. He served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII until his honorable discharge in 1943. Following the war, Earl returned to Neillsville where he worked at American Stores Dairy before moving to Eau Claire in 1961.

He is survived by three sons, Michael (Dorothy) and Jeff, both of Marshfield, Wis., and Randall of Arkansas; two daughters, Cheryl (Don) Vick of Stratford, Wis. And Linda (Lee) Kumm of Vesper, Wis., eight grandchildren; four brothers, Louis (Gen) of Neillsville, Melvin (Rose) of Marshfield, LaVern (Anne) of Stanley, Wis. And Glenn (Anne) of White Bear Lake, Minn.; and a sister, Rose Anderson of Hewitt, Wis.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brothers, two half brothers, and two half sisters.

The Funeral service for Earl will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 25, 1998 at the Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville. Pastor Craig Conklin of the United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Neillsville City Cemetery with Military rites accorded by the Neillsville, Haugen-Richmond American Legion Post (#73. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Gesche Funeral Home.
