Surname: Marg, Barr, Heck, Gorkom Source: Eau Claire Telegram (Eau Claire, Eau Claire County, Wis.) 9 Nov. 2004 -----Marg, Frances Katherine (8 March 1909 - 6 Nov. 2004) Frances Katherine Marg, 95, of Eau Claire passed away Saturday, November 6, 2004, at the Neillsville Memorial Hospital and Home, where she had been for the last couple of weeks. Frances was born March 8, 1909, in Greeley, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Mary Barr of Greenwood, Wis. They went to Ryegate, Mont., and Frances attended the Pine Island School. She went to Iowa and lived with her aunt and uncle and graduated from high school in Iowa. Frances then came to Eau Claire and attended Teachers College. She taught grade school near Fairchild, Wis., for four years and was married to Paul Marg and continued teaching a few years. Frances gave up teaching to help on their farm and business in Mondovi and then moved to Eau Claire. She traveled to many foreign countries and had many great memories. She had many friends in Eau Claire and never missed a Sunday at the Calvary Baptist Church in Eau Claire. Frances wrote many beautiful poems, had a book of poems published in her name and was a guest speaker at many places. She was the president of the Poetry Society and honored for her poems and voice in Eau Claire and Minneapolis. “A Poem After I’m Gone” After I’m gone May thoughts of me Be gently echoed. Through the halls of time A sweet cadence Of rhythmic notes In my happy memories Lighten the line of others May they keep the love of me Embodied in their hearts No regrets God filled My cup with joy. Frances is survived by her brother, Jacob Barr of Greenwood, Wis.; her sister, Anna Fae Heck of Neillsville, where she had lived this last year; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Marg; brothers, Tom Barr, David Barr, Fred Barr; her sister, Edna Barr; and her sisters-in-law, Ruth and Esther Barr. Funeral services will be on Thursday, November 11, 2004, at Calvary Baptist Church in Eau Claire at 1:30 p.m., with Pastor John van Gorkom officiating. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Interment will be on Friday, November 12, in Neillsville. To get to the church, take Hwy. 12 W. (Clairemont Ave.) to Keith St. North, and take a left on Goff. The church is at 1815 Goff Ave. Smith Funeral Chapel and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
