Surname: Hohenstein, Thomas, Kurstatter, Manthey, Strey, Huntley, Frantz, Suchow, Wallace Source: Neillsville Press (Neillsville, Clark County, Wis.) 21 Jan. 1932 -Hohenstein, Minnie (17 Aug. 1878 - 12 Jan. 1932) Mrs. Fred Hohenstein who passed to the life beyond on Jan. 12, was born in Germany, Aug. 17, 1878. Her maiden name was Minnie Thomas. In 1888 she came to America with her parents, Mr and Mrs. Ernest Thomas, the family locating in Indiana. They lived there until 1898 when they moved to Clark county and settled on a farm in the town of Washburn. In 1899 she was united in marriage to Fred Hohenstein. In 1911 they moved to a farm near Alma Center where they lived seven years then moving to Neillsville, which has been their home since. Mrs. Hohenstein was a lady of quiet manner, devoted to her home and friends and family. She was loved and respected by everyone who knew her, and she will be greatly missed in the home and among her circle of friends and relatives. She is survived by her husband and three children -- Mrs. Paul Kurtstatter, La Salle, Ill.; Gladys Manthey Wausau, Wis.; and a son Arthur Hohenstein at home; also four grandchildren, her parents, Mr and Mrs. Ernest Thomas of Washburn, two sisters, Mrs. Robert Strey and Mrs. A. B. Strey of Granton and two brothers, Ben Thomas, Iron Belt, Wis., and Oscar Thomas who resides in Washburn. Services were held at Lowe’s Funeral Home Friday afternoon. Mrs. Myrt Huntley reading the beautiful Christian Science service. The pall bearers were R. Frantz, H. Frantz, Albert Strey, Robert Strey, Rudolph Suchow and H. Wallace. The Rebeccas, of which order she was a member, attended in a body.
