Doris E. Simek, age 82, of 501 E. Fifth Street, in Neillsville, Wis. died Aug. 1, 1999 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in the Palliative Care Unit in Marshfield, Wis.

Doris E. Simek was born on Oct. 23, 1916 in Westfield, Wis. in Marquette County, the daughter of Leonard J. Wachholz and Julia (Duesterhoeft) Wachholz. Doris and her family moved to Neillsville in November, 1928 where she was confirmed and graduated from St. John’s Lutheran Church and school. She married William F. Simek on July 3, 1937 in Montello, Wis. After their marriage they moved to Chicago for five years and then moved back to Neillsville on March 1, 1946. Doris worked as a receptionist locally for many years.

She is survived by two sons: William (Virginia) Simek of St. Paul, Minn., and James (Linda) Simek of Neillsville, Wis.; eight grand- children: Stuart, Douglas, Jeffery, Jason, Julie, Jennifer, Donald, Kari; two sisters, Violet (William) Niehaus, and Elaine Wachholz of St. Paul, Minn.; and one brother, Hilton (Frances) Wachholz of Columbus, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband William, her parents, one brother, Glen, and a sister-in-law, Daisy.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 4, 1999 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville. Pastor Timothy Biebert will officiate. Interment will be in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the church.

Casket bearers are: Irv Marg, Fritz Seelow, Douglas Simek, Jason Simek, Stuart Simek, and Dick Urban.

The Gesche Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
