Jacob Schaefer of the Town of York passed away at Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau Claire, April 10, 1932. He was rushed to the hospital April 4 and an operation was performed on him at once, but all medical care was of no avail and on Sunday at 9:30 in the morning he passed out of this suffering.

Jacob Schaefer was born at West Bend, Wis., May 9, 1871 and had reached the age of 60 years and 11months at the time of this death. He was married to Mathilda Jacobs, Feb. 8, 1900 and to this union four children were born. Alvin preceded his father in death 16 years ago. They made their home at Boltonville, Wis., for three years, then moving to Neillsville where they have resided for the past 30 years, building up a fine home for his wife and children. He was a kind and loving husband and a good father and will be greatly missed in his home and by all those who knew him.

He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, two daughters, Frances, and Helen and one son, Arthur, who is married and is renting the home farm; also four brothers, Joe Schaefer, West Bend; Frank Schaefer, Chicago; Anton and Peter Schaefer, of the town of York and one sister, Mrs. James Donahue of Neillsville.

The funeral services were held at St. Mary’s Catholic church in Neillsville, Wednesday morning, Rev. Fr. Peter Weber officiating. Burial was in St. Mary’s cemetery.

Those from away who attended the funeral were: Joe Schaefer and daughter Lorene and Raymond Jacobs, West Bend; Mrs. Richard Wabrahenstein of Hartford and Miss Emily Wickert Slinger.

God took him home, as was his will, But in our hearts he liveth still. His smiling way and pleasant face are pleasant to recall. He had a kindly word for each, and died beloved by all. We think of him in silence, No eye may see us weep, but many silent tears are shed when other are asleep. Some day may hope to meet him, some day we know not when, to clasp his hand in the better land, Never to part again.
