Brecklin, Bertha (22 DEC 1865 - 7 MAR 1923)

Mrs. Carl Brecklin died at her home west of the village (Dorchester, Clark County, Wis.), Wednesday, Mar. 7th, 1923, of pernicious anemia, after an illness of 3 1/2 months duration, at the age of 57 years, 2 months and 15 days, and was laid to rest Saturday, Mar. 10, services being conducted from St. Peter's Lutheran Church by Rev. Piehler of Milan, and interment took place at the Lutheran Cemetery. H. Gipp, O. and A. Baehr, F. Geiger, H. Marquardt and A. Nachtwey acted as pallbearers.

Bertha Kusserow was born at Old Malchow, Germany, Dec. 22, 1865, and in 1886 immigrated to the United States. On Dec. 29, 1887, she was united in marriage to Carl Brecklin at Braddock, Penn., and in a few years they came to Dorchester country.

Ten children were born to them, 3 of which died in infancy and 7, 4 sons, Gustave, Edmund, Arnold and Arthur, and 3 daughters, Anna, Martha and Emma, together with their father, are left to mourn her loss.

Mother is gone from her usual place and her gentle voice is stilled but she will ever live on in the hearts of husband and children. Not only that, but the neighbors and friends will remember her helping hand that reached out in time of need and her kind smile and helpful friendliness, for truly these things live on long after we ourselves are forgotten. So be comforted, dear mourning ones, in the thought that she hath done what she could.
