Surnames: SCHAFER GUSE BRUNNER APLIN Source: DORCHESTER/ABBOTSFORD CLARION (Abbotsford, Clark Co., WI) 04/20/1923 Schafer, Joseph (26 JAN 1850 - 16 APR 1923) (The micro-film for this obit was cut off on the left side, so it will be paraphrased) It has pleased God Almighty to take form this vale of tears until himself, Joseph Schafer, who departed this life, Monday, April 16, 1923, at 2 o'clock in the after noon at the age of 73 years, 2 months and ? days. He was born in Chicago, Ill. Jan. 26, 1850. In ? he moved to Brillion, Calumet, Co., Wis., and it was there he was united in marriage to Amelia Guse on May 11, 1878. To this union five children were born, two daughters and three sons. After having resided here for 28 years, he moved to Chili in ?, at which place he stayed until 1913. From here he came to Abbotsford and remained until his death. The deceased was taken severely ill about a week ago and felt that would be his last illness and made ? arrangements, called Rev. Keiper to make his a sick ? and to prepare him for Holy Communion, also to help him set his house in order because he felt at his time on earth would soon come to a close and because God in His word has told us that the day of death is bound to come, for it is written, "It is appointed unto everyone once to die, but after this the judgement." Mr. Schafer's wife died in 1906. He again married in 1919 to Amelia Kruger Brunner. He is survived by his widow and the following children: Mrs. ? Aplin and George of Hilbert, Wis., Mrs. Emma Schaffer and Adolph of Chippewa Falls, and ? of Leun, Wis. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday morning from his home near Abbotsford by Rev. Kieper. The body was then shipped to Brillion, where interment took place. |
