Nielsen, 86, town of Eaton, Greenwood, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2004, while at home surrounded by his family. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 27, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Greenwood. The Rev. Terri Blomberg officiated. Burial was in the Greenwood City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Amy Bestul, Andrew Nielsen, Dana Johnson, Ryan Nielsen, Korey Bushman, and Kristopher Bushman. Honorary pall bearers were his dartball team members. Aage Alfred Nielsen was born on April 24, 1918, near Copenhagen, Denmark, to Johannes and Anna [nee Olsen] Nielsen, and immigrated to the United States in 1919. He married Lilian Endres on June 15, 1940, in Slinger. They lived in various locations in Wisconsin before settling near Greenwood. He could do any task put before him, and he was especially talented in masonry and dairy farming. He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Greenwood, where he served on the church council and was an active member of the dartball team. He served on the Greenwood School Board and was a member of the Black River Bowman’s Club and the GWR Riders Snowmobile Club. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, camping, waterskiing, snowmobiling and helping his son and grandson with the family farm. Survivors include two sons, Roger [Alice] Nielsen, Iola, and Wayne [Diane] Nielsen, Greenwood; one daughter, Sharon [Edward] Bushman, Wisconsin Rapids; six grandchildren, Amy [Daniel] Bestul, Iola, Andrew [Melissa] Nielsen, Greenwood, Dana [Andrew] Johnson, Willard, Ryan Nielsen, Greenwood, Korey Bushman, La Crosse, and Kristopher Bushman, Madison; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Karen Isabells Mantey, Watertown; and one brother, Henry [Beatrice] Nielsen, Greenwood. Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Lilian, on Sept. 12, 1983; two brothers, Louis and Niels; and two sisters, Petra and Gerda. Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood, assisted the family with arrangements. |
