News: Humbird Enterprise 9-18-1909
Source: Humbird Enterprise Date: 9-18-09 The New Sidewalks. The new cement sidewalks which are being laid by B. H. Albright and Henry Stallard are going down rapidly. The crew has completed the walk from F. J. Simons’ residence west and is not working on the walk on the north side of Brandstedter’s store. The idea of the town giving this work to home talent is commendable. The school district saved about $20 on their cement walks by having the work done by home parities, and we believe that the town will do likewise, besides getting a better job of work. A case of diphtheria has developed in the family of Austin Pierce in a mild form and one of the Koboski boys is sick. John Winkler is now employed at the Big Store. C. C. Calkins has sold his farm north of town to a man from Illinois. Miss Alice Loyd left for her school in Appleton the first of the week. W. F. Herbst went to Milwaukee Thursday, as he was one of the reception committee to receive President Taft. News was received here Wednesday morning of the death of Fred Gallows at Mendota where he was taken a few days ago. Pete Waterpool is back from Montana where he went to look for some land, but he did not like the land, so did not invest. D S,. Livermore and M. L. Crane went out tater some chickens the first day of the hunting season and brought home 18 birds. |
