(13 DEC 1875 - 15 DEC 1955) Neillsville, Clark County, Wis. - Funeral services will be held Saturday at Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church for Gustave E. Holtz, 79, who died Tuesday afternoon at his home here. He had been in ill health for the past year. The body will lie in state at the Georgas Funeral Home until noon Saturday, when it will be taken to the church, where services will be held beginning at 1 p.m. The Rev. William F. Koehler, Green Bay, and the Rev. Jacob Grether, Neillsville, will officiate and burial will be made in the Neillsville Cemetery. Mr. Holtz was born Dec. 13, 1875 in Freiburg, Germany, and came to the United States with his parents at the age of 10. The family located in southern Wisconsin before moving to Washburn township shortly afterward. He came to Clark County about 1900 and was married to Milda Schnabel in Neillsville on June 29, 1904. He was employed by the Oatman Condensed Milk Co., now American Stores Dairies, for more than 30 years and retired in August 1947. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last June. Mr. Holtz was a private in the Wis. National Guard Co. "A", 3rd Regiment, and was discharged in March 1907. His only survivor is his wife. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Augusta and Ida Martha, and three brothers, Ferdinand, August and Herman. Mr. Holtz was a member of the Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church. |
