THOMAS NOWAK (NOVAK)

Funeral services were conducted, Saturday from the Georgas Funeral Home for Thomas Nowak (Novak) age 77, of Dewhurst Township, rural Merrillan, who died Thursday, April 2, 1959, at Neillsville Memorial Hospital. The Rev. Mander McPherson, pastor of the Assembly of God Church, officiated and burial was made in the Hatfield Cemetery in Jackson County.

Mr. Nowak was born November 21, 1881, in Poznan, Poland, to Joseph and Josephine (Ciehan) Nowak. He came to the United States around 1906 and on July 12, 1912, was married to Frances Plonka in Chicago, IL. They lived in Chicago, IL, in the Hatfield area of Jackson County, and since 1941, lived in the Bruce Mound area on their property adjoining Bruce Mound Ski Area in the Dewhurst Township.

He is survived by his wife, Frances and the following children; Anna (Harry) Wroblewski, Lillian (Milton) Kramer, and Emily (Edward) Basara all of Chicago, IL; and one son, Rudolph (Dolores) Novak of the Town of Dewhurst, on the home place. Also a sister, Katherine Wojciechowski of Cicero, Il, and a brother Anton Nowak of the Town of Dewhurst; also surviving are 8 grandchildren. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents and 6 children in infancy; and one brother Casimer.
