Obit: Matalas, Lillian (1916 - 2003)
Source: Banner Journal LILLIAN R MATALAS Lillian R Matalas, 87, of Merrillan passed away at her home Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003. She was born June 27, 1916, in Neillsville to parents Frank and Marie (Skalnik) Matousek. She married Antone “Tony” Matalas Sept. 30, 1967, at the United Methodist Church, in Merrillan. They farmed for many years in the town of Alma, retiring in August 2002. Lil enjoyed her family, gardening, cooking and watching birds and wildlife. She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Tony: five children, Tony “Nick” Jr. (Sherry) Matalas of Merrillan, Connie Noffke of Onalaska, Randy (Kristy) Matalas of Merrillan, Rick (Dar) Matalas of Black River Falls and Ronnie (Tamie) Matalas of Merrillan. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Tony III, Paige, Randi, Tyler, Amanda and Chelsea, besides many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and by two brothers, Louis and Frank. Funeral services for Lillian R Matalas were held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, 2003, at the United Methodist Church, Merrillan, with Rev. Meg Erickson officiating. Burial took place in the Hatfield Cemetery. Friends called at the Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home, Hixton Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. and also one hour prior to services at the church. Casket bearers were Al Knutson, Larry Matousek, Jeff Matousek, Gene Schwister, Harold Holub, Frank Matousek, Jr. and Tony Matalas III. Honorary bearer was Frank Matousek. |
