Obit: Conrad, Emelia (1863 –1929)
Surnames: CONRAND SCHMIDT KAMPIN Source: LOYAL TRIBUNE (Loyal, Clark County, Wis.) 01/24/1929 Conrad, Emelia (14 DEC 1863 – 16 JAN 1929) Mrs. Emelia Conrad, nee Emelia Schmidt, was born Dec. 14, 1863 in Brandenburg, Germany. She received Holy Baptism in early infancy and later was instructed and confirmed in the Ev. Lutheran Church. In the year 1884 she was united in the Holy Bonds of Matrimony with Frank Conrad. In the year 1886 she with her husband and their infant son Otto, who was about five months old at the time came to America and settled in Nimehaw County, Kansas. The little family lived on Kansas farms for five years. During this time they were blessed with the arrival of another son, Carl. From Kansas they moved to Oklahoma on a homestead, remaining there for a period of ten years. While in Oklahoma their only daughter, Elsie was born. In the year 1901 they left the West, came to Wisconsin and moved on a farm in the town of Sherman, Clark County, which has been the Conrad home from then up to the present time. The deceased had been in ill health during the past five years up to about a year ago. At that time her health began to improve and she grew better slowly. Recently she contracted a bad cough. Not having fully recovered from her former illness she was not very strong. This may have caused the cough to be more severe than it would otherwise have been. She suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and on Wednesday at 10:50 P.M. Jan. 16, she passed on, having attained the age of 65 years, one month and two days. Mrs. Conrad was a member of the Salem Ev. Lutheran Church at Veefkind. She was a home loving woman, and was devoted to her husband and children. She is survived by her husband, Frank Conrad; two sons, Otto and Carl of Spencer; one daughter, Elsie, Mrs. Alfred Kampin of Marshfield; six grand children; other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held Saturday in the Conrad home at one o’clock and in the Salem Ev. Lutheran Church, Veefkind at two o’clock the Rev. A. Draeger officiating. Interment took place in the adjoining cemetery. The Tribune, with the many friends of the Conrad family extends deep sympathy. |
