Surname: Ferguson, Rush, Bender, Longenecker, Galbreath, Bue, Winters, Cramer, Taylor, Groves, Johnson, Sutherland Source: Neillsville Press (Neillsville, Clark County, Wis.) 29 Sept. 1932 Ferguson, John L. (22 May 1850 - 19 Sept. 1932) John L. Ferguson, for a quarter of a century a resident of the town of Washburn, passed away at the home of his son, Sam Ferguson, Sept. 19. Mr. Ferguson was born in La Fayette County, Wisconsin, May 22, 1850. In 1869 he was married in Richland County to Miss Rebecka Rush. In March, 1907, they moved to Clark County, where Mr. Ferguson bought land and has continued farming until his death. He was a man of great energy and industry and was quite successful as a farmer. In many ways he was a most interesting man. In his early life he had lived near or across the Illinois line and remembered many incidents in the life of U. S. Grant, who then lived at Galena, Ill. Mr. Ferguson was fond of relating his memories of Grant. He is survived by five children: Lester of the town of Grant; John, Frank and Sam, all of the town of Washburn, and one daughter, Minnie, Mrs. Gib. Bender, in Granton. The funeral was held Sept. 21, at Lowe’s Funeral Home, Rev. G. W. Longenecker officiating. The pallbearers were John Galbreath, George Bue, T. M. Winters, George Cramer, Dave Taylor and W. I. Groves. Those from away who attended the funeral were: Mrs. James Johnson, Appleton; Mrs. George Sutherland, Readstown.
