THE OLD WHEELBARROW

Old wheelbarrow’s going still, Long with engines new, ‘Spite of engineerin’ skill, Has its work to do.

Fivver going mighty strong, Smashes up one day, Old wheelbarrow comes along and carries it right away.

Airship roaming through the sky, Slips a cog, perhaps; Old wheelbarrow passin’ by, Totes away the scraps.

Time, some big improvements bring, There’s no room to doubt; but the plain old useful things, Can’t be done without.

Mrs. Herman Scheeler’s sister Martha from New York State is here on a visit. She also visited a sister at Fond du Lac on her way. The three sisters are planning on a trop to California.

Alonzo Huckstead accompanied Mr and Mrs. Arlo Huckstead to La Crosse Saturday for a visit with their daughter Doris and family.

The twins, Rudy and Ruth Selves celebrated their 12th birthday Saturday with a party.

Friends of Mr and Mrs. Rudolph Grassman of Janesville might be interested to know they have a 9 ½ pound boy since last week.

Sam Cook took dinner at Henry Braatz’, Friday and at Otto Handke’s, Sunday.

Mr and Mrs. James Hughes and Aileen and Mrs. Kate Welsh of Neillsville spent Sunday at Pat Hughes at Christie.

Mr and Mrs. Ewald Thiede entertained at the town hall Saturday evening it being their 15th anniversary.

Mrs. Bert Swann of Milwaukee is caring for her daughter, Mrs. Reuben Handke and little Coleen, the new arrival.

Donald Braatz went to Madison Thursday on one of the agricultural judging teams.

Geo. Howard is a bit under the weather due to striking a stone while plowing and fracturing a rib.

The Hubing families celebrated Grandma Hubing’s birthday Sunday at Henry Hubing’s.

Mrs. Robert Kurth and daughter Hilda, and Mrs. Emil Krueger of Milwaukee were visitors at the Eugene Short home Sunday and they also took dinner at the home of Otto Handke.

Mmes. Geo. And Vern Howard spent Thursday with Mrs. Edward Selves, it being her birthday.

Mrs. James Hughes spent Wednesday at her brother Joe Counsell’s in Neillsville.
