Schwanebeck, 89, of Pittsville and Tomahawk, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2005, at Memorial Medical Center in Neillsville. Glenn and his late wife, Doris, farmed in the town of Sherwood. Survivors include two daughters, Jan (Benny) Heck, Greenwood, and Sharon (Raymond) Wetzel, Tomahawk; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Arlene Behling, Jefferson; and many other relatives and friends. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in the town of Sherwood. Burial will be in the town of Sherwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Buchanan Funeral Home in Neillsville and from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the church. Schwanebeck, 89, of Pittsville and Tomahawk, died at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 28, 2005, at Memorial Medical Center in Neillsville, where he had been a patient for the past two weeks. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in the town of Sherwood with the Rev. Tom Hahn officiating. Music will be provided by organist Mary Schwanebeck for congregational singing. Burial will be in the town of Sherwood Cemetery with Wayne and Dennis Schwanebeck, Russell and Jerry Jacobson, Thomas Smith and Ronald Zank serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Buchanan Funeral Home in Neillsville and from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the church. Glenn was born Dec. 22, 1915, in the town of Sherwood to Max and Ella (Frederickson) Schwanebeck. He was educated at Dewhurst School in the town of Sherwood. He farmed with his parents, enjoyed the outdoors and was a hunter and fisherman. Glenn married Doris Jane Bradley on Oct. 18, 1940, in Randolph and they farmed in the town of Sherwood. Doris and Glenn also were camp tenders at Sherwood Park until 1998. Glenn was preceded in death by his wife on April 4, 1980. He continued to reside on the farm, raising cattle until age 82. He spent winters in Tomahawk for the past seven years and also enjoyed an annual summer fishing trip to Tomahawk. Glenn was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sherwood. He loved going to the library and was an avid reader. He was a world traveler, interested in history and current events, always reading the daily papers. Glenn enjoyed gardening and sharing produce with relatives and friends. He built many bird houses and enjoyed watching and feeding the birds. Glenn looked forward to spring and tree planting. He protected the trees by mouse baiting and regularly trimming the grass around the trees with a corn knife. Glenn was proud of his family and was always a cheerleader for his children and grandchildren. He is survived by two daughters, Jan (Benny) Heck, Greenwood, and Sharon (Raymond) Wetzel, Tomahawk; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Arlene Behling, Jefferson; a sister-in-law, Virginia Bradley, Randolph; and many nieces and nephews.
