Osowski, Thomas R. (13 DEC 1924 – 8 FEB 2005)

Thomas Robert Osowski, 80, Thorp, surrounded by his family, died suddenly of respitory arrest, on Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005, at Our Lady of Victory Hospital, Stanley. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 12, at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church, Thorp. The Rev. Keith Apfelbeck officiated. Burial was in New St. Hedwig’s Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were his sons.

Thomas Robert Osowski was born Dec. 13, 1924, in rural Thorp, to Vincent and Frances (nee Ciecora) Osowski. He was educated in rural Thorp[ schools. He served in the U. S. Marine Corp as an MP during World War ll. After leaving the military, he was employed in Chicago. He married Laurencia Staron on June 1, 1952. They moved to rural Thorp, where they raised their family and farmed for 45 years before retirement. He was a member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Queen of Peace Council #4634 and the Thorp American Legion Cecil Tormey Post #118.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Laurie, Thorp; 14 children, Cynthia (Kenneth) Loos, Loyal, Doreen (George Neil, Williamsburg, VA., Gregory (Diane) Osowski, White Bear Lake, Minn., Nancy (Mark) Haferman, Marshfield, Pamela (James) Hayden, Carrollton, Texas, Mark (Ann) Osowski, Mequon, Marie Osowski, Buchanan Dam, Texas, Kenneth Osowski, Onalaska, Jennifer (Dennis) Postler, Bloomington, Minn., Michael (Janelle) Osowski, Hartland, Julie Gumz, Onalaska, Bridget (Jason) Akey, Eagan, Minn., Keith Osowski, Hillsboro, Ore., Kevin (AJ) Klein Osowski, Austin, Texas; and 26 grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were one daughter, Mary Ann Osowski; his parents; five brothers, Edward Osowski, John Osowski, Stanley “Shorty” Osowski, Harry Osowski, and Norbert Osowski; and four sisters, Gertrude Truse, Clara Biddle, Martha Wasgolet and Theresa “Trixie” Wolowik.

Memorials may be directed to the Thorp Catholic School.

Thorp Funeral Home, Thorp, assisted the family with arrangements.
