Surnames: ROBERTS WOLFF Source: MARSHFIELD NEWS HERALD (Marshfield, Wood Co., Wis.) 02/05/1962; P 5 Roberts, Jessie (13 JAN 1889 – 2 FEB 1962) Neillsville, Clark County, Wis. – Funeral services were conducted in United Church of Christ here at 1:30 p.m. today for Mrs. E. J. Roberts, 73, of 409 W. First St., Neillsville, who died at Memorial Hospital Friday after a lingering illness. The former Jessie Wolff was born Jan. 13, 1889 at Wis. Rapids. When she was a small child the family moved to Neillsville, where she received her education. She clerked at her father’s meat market and at the Big Store in Neillsville until her marriage to E. J. Roberts on Aug. 5, 1920 at St. Paul. The couple lived in Marshfield for 18 years before returning to Neillsville. Mrs. Roberts was a member of the United Church of Christ and its guild; a 50-year member of the Carmi Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, and a member of the auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in which she served various offices. Eastern Star rites were conducted at the Bergemann Funeral Home Sunday evening. Mrs. Roberts is survived by two sons, John and Glenn, both of Neillsville, and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, a brother and a sister. |
