Easterson, Gordon P. (2 Jan. 1919 - 24 Feb. 2005)-- 2/25/2005

Gordon ‘Bud’ P. Easterson, 86, of Eleva, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005, at Memorial Medical Center in Neillsville. He was born in Eau Claire on Jan. 2, 1919, the son of George and Pauline (Anderson) Easterson.

Gordon married Virginia E. Huse in Eau Claire on Jan. 27, 1940.

He entered the U.S. Army in 1945 during World War II and was stationed in the Pacific Theater until his honorable discharge in 1946.

Gordon and Virginia farmed in the town of Pleasant Valley for 25 years, and then he worked more than 20 years in the maintenance department for the Eau Claire Board of Education until his retirement. He was an avid Packers fan, enjoyed working in his garden and spent his retirement years camping. He loved all dogs, especially Dalmatians, which he had from childhood. He was well liked and respected by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his son, Dale (Karen) Easterson of Rudolph; two daughters, Eleanor (Robert) Johnson of Hixton and Karen (Larry) Knutson of Colfax; seven grandchildren, Wayne (Julie) Bollinger of Eau Claire, Darryl Bollinger of Hixton, Jill (Dennis) Kitelinger of Eleva, Gail (Jim) Feltz of Plover, Amy (Doug) Wagner of Wisconsin Rapids, Brian (Kristy) Knutson of Princeton, Minn., and Eric (Missy) Knutson of Colfax; 16 great-grandchildren; his sister, Kathryn Fjelstad of Eau Claire; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia in 1991; and his parents.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005, at Pleasant Valley Lutheran Church in Eleva with Pastor William A. Wendt officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Lutheran Church Cemetery where American Legion Post 53 will conduct graveside military rites.

Family and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
