(11 April 1865 - 30 Jan. 1933) Mrs. Delia M. Hayes, 68, died in her home, 210 McKinley St., Janesville, at 4 p.m. Monday, January 30, 1933, following five months’ illness. Mrs. Hayes, formerly Delia Richmond, the daughter of Joseph and Sarah Richmond, was born on a farm near Whitewater, April 11, 1865. Later the family moved to Shortville, and it was there, March 25, 1885, that she was married to Louis Adelbert Hayes. Her married life was spent at Albion, Otter Creek, near Afton, and for the past 25 years she lived in Janesville. Mr. Hayes was killed in August, 1931, when struck down by a falling tree during a wind storm. She is survived by one son, A. W. Hayes, and one daughter, Miss Blanche Hayes, both of Janesville; two grandchildren, Donald and Evelyn Hayes, Janesville; an aunt, Mrs. Janet Richmond, Whitewater; and two cousins, Mrs. George Bue, Neillsville, whom she was visiting when taken ill, and Mrs. C. L. Hall, Whitewater. Mrs. Hayes will be mourned by her family, to whom she was entirely devoted, and by a large circle of friends. Funeral services will be held in the Krueger-Cutts Funeral Home at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. L. J. Tigner, First Christian Church, will officiate, and burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at her home, 210 McKinely St., until the hour of the funeral. Members of the Milwaukee Railroad Women’s Club will meet at 7:15 p.,. Tuesday in the home of Mrs. J. W. McCue, 620 Pleasant St. to go in a body to the home of Mrs. Hayes. Miss Blanche Hayes is treasurer of the Railroad Club. Pall bearers were James Reed, William Davis, William Bush, Stanley Crossman, William Clarida and George Walters. Bernice Brown and William Davidson gave the song service while Mrs. A. H. Bald?ck played the accompaniments. Janesville Gazette. Mrs. Hayes and her parents were well known in this community, living in Washburn for many years.
