Obit: Koehn, Ophelia E. (1926 – 1929)
Source: WEEKLY CLARION (Dorchester, Clark Co., WI) 02/08/1929 Koehn, Ophelia E. (4 MAY 1926 – 31 JAN 1929) Ophelia Edith Koehn, the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Koehn, died Thursday morning, Jan. 31, 1929, after a three days illness of flu, aged 2 years, 8 months and 2 days. The funeral service was held Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the St. Peter Lutheran Church, Rev. Brandt officiating, Marie Schultz, Marie Dunler, Ruth Johnson and Leona Dallenback acting as pallbearers. Little Ophelia was born May 4, 1926 and was the light of the home, following father or mother or Grandpa Koehn about the keeping them happy. She was ill only 3 days and was seemingly better but her parents took turns watching thru the night; toward morning she dropped into a quiet sleep and seemed to be resting nicely and shortly after Elmer and his father slipped out quietly so as not to disturb the little one and went to attend the chores, and the mother, who had been sleeping for awhile, got up to care for the babe and found she had passed away in the meantime. She slipped quietly away, a little blossom in the garden of God where she will be free from all pain and sorrow. May the dear sorrowing ones take comfort in the thought that she has just flitted on ahead and when life’s journey is over they will meet again in joy. The out of town folks here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Emil Geabler, Sheboygan, Walter Koehn, Minneapolis, Minn., Mr. R. Prentice and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wagoness, of Milan, and Joe Metzler of Medford. |
