Surname: Geiger, Malik, Apfelbeck, Schmitt, Hanne, Witte, Lofland, Sterzinger, Metz, Wittman, Krueger, Smudde, Raczykowski, Bachler, Lukas, Pupp, Gundlach, Pirwitz Source: Sheboygan Press (Sheboygan, Sheboygan County, Wis.) 20 April 2004 Geiger, Frank (30 Jan. 1906 – 17 April 2004) ABBOTSFORD - Frank Geiger 98, formerly of Abbotsford, died Saturday April 17, 2004, at Colonial Center of Colby. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Abbotsford. Burial will be in Dorchester Memorial Cemetery. The Rev. John Malik will officiate. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Apfelbeck, Ronald Schmitt, Gregory Geiger, Galen Hanne, David Witte, Derek Lofland and Lawrence Sterzinger. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Maurina Funeral Home, Abbotsford, with a parish rosary service at 7:30 p.m. Frank was born January 30, 1906, in the town of Mayville, rural Dorchester, to Frank and Anna (Metz) Geiger. He married Clara Wittman April 9, 1929. She died March 23, 1969. Frank and Stella Krueger Smudde were married on November 7, 1970. He farmed in the town of Mayville, rural Dorchester, until 1944 and then in the town of Mayville, rural Abbotsford, until moving to Abbotsford in 1970. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and bowling in the Abbotsford and Dorchester Senior Leagues. Frank was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Catholic Order of Foresters, and Catholic Family Life Insurance. Frank is survived by his wife, Stella; his children, Rita (Emery) Schmitt of Abbotsford, Louis (Kathleen) Geiger of Sparta, Jeanette (Vernon) Hanne of Yuma, Ariz., Doris (Dean) Witte of Colby, Celine (Leo) Lofland of Ogema, and Diane (Darrel) Sterzinger of Howell, Mich.; 28 grandchildren; 68 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; his step-children, Wilbert (Helen) Smudde of Butternut, George (Delores) Smudde of Glenview, Ill., Ray (Irene) Smudde of Addison, Ill., Tony (Alyce) Smudde of Elk Grove Village, Ill., Emily (Bernard) Raczykowski of Abbotsford, Theresa Bachler of Merrillville, Ind., and Vera Lukas of Naperville, Ill.; and his sisters and brothers, Agnes Pupp of Marshfield, Henrietta Gundlach of Marshfield, Ethel (Edward) Pupp of Wausau, Henry Geiger of Milwaukee, Anthony (Junilla) Geiger of Haines City, Fla., and Leo (Dorothy) Geiger of Loyal. Frank was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Clara; two daughters, Alvina Geiger and Dorothy Apfelbeck Pirwitz; four grandchildren, Rock Lee Geiger, Mary Clara Lofland, Debra Witte, and Keith Sterzinger; four brothers, Joseph, Mike, Aloysius, and Benjamin; and six sisters, Anna, Mae, Helen, Lucy, Elsie and Frances. |
