Obit: Boetcher, Karl A. (1852 – 1930)

(23 NOV 1852 – 12 MAR 1930) Karl August Boetcher, pioneer of Clark County, was born in Colditz, Kingdom of Saxony, Germany on November 23, 1852. During infancy he was baptized in the name of The Triune God, later instructed and confirmed. During his 21 year he left the Fatherland and migrated to the United States of America and farmed continuously on the same farm for 50 years. On May 8, 1882 he and Miss Carrie Maria Arndt were united in Holy Bonds of Matrimony. This union was blessed with nine children, of which four daughters and three sons preceded him into eternity. Through the death of the departed, the Trinity Ev. Lutheran Congregation loses one of its oldest members. Even though sickness prevented all but an occasional church attendance during the last few years, Mr. Boetcher nevertheless remained in full church membership. He read and studied the Holy Scripture diligently, and frequently took Holy Communion. About two weeks ago he seemed to sense that the end was near and called the Rev. H. F. Leschensky and partook for the last time, The Holy Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper. The departed suffered much and bore a heavy cross during his life. He was in poor health during the past 15 years and lameness made it difficult for him to be about. Some time ago he also became afflicted with heart disease which caused his death. The end came at 3 o’clock Thursday morning, March 12th, when the departed was gently and softly called from Time into Eternity, his life span having been bro’t to the age of 77 years, 3 months and 20 days. That the departed has entered into the Rest in Store for God’s People is the hope of those with whom he was joined here in sacred ties of Church membership, friendship and brotherly love. He leaves to mourn his deeply grieved wife; a daughter, Mrs. Arthur Schoengrund; a son, Karl Boetcher and three grandchildren also other relatives and a host of friends. The Tribune joins in extending sympathy to the bereaved. Funeral services were held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday at the home and at 1:45 P.M. in the church, the Rev. H. F. Lechensky officiating. Interment took place in the Loyal cemetery. |
