History: Mystery Photo #22

Here is an Unidentified old class photo that was taken by a photographer in Neillsville, oh so many years ago. My Mom had it in a collection of old family photos (no names on most of them). Thought perhaps you could put it in the mystery photo section. Looks like it could be a church confirmation or a school 8th grade graduation class. Note the gentleman sort of in the center has some type of certificate or document or diploma in his hand. Please respond if you can identify the time frame of this picture or any of the people in it. The gentleman numbered as “11” is my great grandfather, The Reverend Frederick W. A. Thrun who was pastor of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Neillsville, Wisconsin from 1892-1904. I would imagine this is a photo (taken between 1892-1904) of a church confirmation class and that he is holding a bible. - Contributed by: Mark Thrun; Aug. 8, 2010, mark@grandworldtravel.com

The girl labeled as Number 22 in Mystery Photo #27 is my grandmother, Amanda Guse (17 Oct 1882 - 25 Dec 1960).  Her family moved to the Neillsville area around 1895 (see the obituary of her father, Julius Guse, posted on this website).   She was working in Chicago in 1899 and engaged to be married so that should narrow the time frame of the photo to somewhere between 1895 and probably 1898.  We have a copy of the same photo and her name was written in, so we're quite sure of the identification.  Leslie Koch,  lesliek0310@gmail.com
