LAYKOVICH INQUEST HELD ON THURSDAY Coroner's Jury Agrees That Father Fired Fatal Shots

Neillsville A coroner's jury at the conclusion of the inquest held here Thursday afternoon in the deaths of Mrs. Agatha Laykovich, 46, Hedren, and her three year old son, Eugene, brought in a verdict that the mother and her son came to their deaths "by shots fired from a .38 caliber revolver in the hands of Frank Laykovich sr."

Mrs. Laykovich and her son were slain by the husband and father early Tuesday morning while they lay in bed in the farm home, near Willard. An insane jealosy and imaginary wrongdoing in his marital life are belived to have prompted the dual slaying by the husband and father.

Laykovich, who is confined in the county jail, waived a preliminary hearing Wednesday afternoon when brought before Court Commissioner A. E. Dudley, and was ordered held for circuit court on a first degree murder charge.

Prior to the inquest held at the courtroom of the courthouse conducted by District Attorney John M. Peterson and Coroner P. C. Ludovic, the jury was taken to the Laykovich home, where the murder room and the two slain bodies were viewed.

Members of the jury were Mrs. Margaret Farrand, Ed Kutchera, Joseph Krause, Roger Kurtsweg, Nick J. Scherer and J. L. Richardson.

Witnesses testifying at the inquest were Dr. William Olson, Greenwood; Lillian and Frank Laykovich jr and R. S. Butcher.
