Obit: Sievert, Bertha (1842 – 1933)
Surname: Sievert, Toben, Boyer, Allen, Rex, Dorschner, Motzkus Source: Neillsville Press (Neillsville, Clark County, Wis.) 16 Nov. 1933 Sievert, Bertha (1 March 1842 – 8 Nov. 1933) Mrs. Bertha Sievert, one of the oldest residents of Clark County, passed away Wednesday evening, Nov. 8, at the home of her grandson, Willard Allen, aged 91 years, 8 months and one day. Mrs. Sievert, whose maiden name was Bertha Toben, was born in Germany, March 1, 1842. She grew to womanhood there, and in 1866 was married to Ferdinand Sievert. They came to America in 1883 and settled at Fremont, Wis., where they lived for three years. In 1869 they moved to Clark County and secured land in what is now the town of Seif. There they developed a farm and made their home until Mr. Sievert’s death in 1927, when she came to Neillsville and lived with her daughter, Mrs. David Boyer, remaining there until about a year and a half ago when she went to live with Mr. and Mrs. Willard Allen. Mrs. Sievert was a woman who had done well her work in life. She lived and labored in the pioneer times and helped develop a farm home and serve the community. She leaves four daughters: Augusta, Mrs. Amos Rex, Salt Lake City, Utah; Minnie, Mrs. David Boyer, Poynett, Wis.; Mrs. Alma Allen, Neillsville; Anna, Mrs. Frank Dorschner, Brillion, Wis. Three children died in infancy. She leaves 20 grandchildren and 30 great-granchildren. The funeral was held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Globe Lutheran Church, Rev. Motzkus officiating. |
